Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them. ~
Brendan Francis

He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8

Faith and Courage will keep you one step at a time.

Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?

Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it?

For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you?

Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? James 2:14-17

It is true that there is uncertainty in an unstable economy but:

“Walk straight, act right, tell the truth.
“Don’t hurt your friend, don’t blame your neighbor; despise the despicable.
“Keep your word even when it costs you, make an honest living, never take a bribe.
“You’ll never get shaken if you live like this.” Psalm 15:1-5

With all the gifts that people receive on Christmas you would think we would be satisfied but Nooo! Boxing day will find people “charging” through stores in mass, fighting over sale items as if they needed them. Consuming is the way a consumer culture scratches a perpetual soul itch. We scratch on Christmas and are itchy again on boxing day. Maybe this is what Jesus was talking about when he told the woman at the well “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again”

The good news is that Jesus went on to say , but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13,14

It’s just a thought.

French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte wrote:

“I know men; and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man.
Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison.
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have  founded empires.

But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force!

Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him.”

…God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17
